Wheat mitochondrial responses to salinity

This thesis investigates salinity induced changes to mitochondrial composition and function across a range of wheat varieties. Key techniques include: proteomics, mass spectrometry, biochemistry, physiology, informatics.

Why my research is important

This thesis aims to define specific mitochondrial proteins that underpin salinity tolerance in wheat. The genes encoding these proteins could potentially be targeted by breeding programs which aim to increase salinity tolerance in this agronomically important crop.
