Utilising diatoms to improve efficiencies of dye sensitised solar cells

Making use of the porous structure of diatom frustules (shells) for technological applications such as dye sensitised solar cells and drug delivery by coating with materials such as silver, titania and magnetite.

Why my research is important

Improving efficiencies of solar cells makes renewable energy a step closer to being financially competitive with dirty power generation like coal.
